PorterKinney Started As A Home-Based Business

In 2006, Chris Porter began operating a home-based tax firm and prepared his first tax returns on his kitchen counter. The firm experienced incredible growth during its first few years, obtaining clients in over a dozen states. In 2012, a new corporation was formed called Porter & Company. In January 2013, a new office was opened at 1100 Jadwin Ave in Richland, WA.

Partnership with Walter Kinney

In June 2014, Walter Kinney left a large local firm to partner with Chris, and the company was renamed PorterKinney to reflect their new partnership. Walter had previously spent the last 8 years working for two of the larger local CPA firms in the Tri-Cities area and brought with him a strong background in strategic tax preparation.

Marple & Marple

On November 15, 2019, PorterKinney purchased the Kennewick CPA Firm Marple & Marple, which was founded in 1973 by Robert E. Marple, Sr. All eight full-time employees were rehired by PorterKinney, a move that helped PorterKinney triple its workforce in 2019. The experienced Marple & Marple CPA’s brought with them a wealth of experience in tax and accounting.
